HDTV is considered to be the best clarity display system with a high resolution. Indians never had a chance to view the HD content in their home.
But, with the rise in the sales of Full HD and HD Ready Television sets in India has opened a new chance of introducing HD Transmission to Indian Homes.
The venture was made by Sun Direct Pvt Ltd., and they were the first Indian providers to provide HD transmission in India.
The subscription is expected to be little expensive due to the new technology. Currently 10,000 INR for the set top box+1250 INR for Installation Charges +Basic Package Charge(500 INR for 5Months) + 100 INR per month per HD channel. Plus a very limited choice is available. However its bound to get cheaper with competition and time.
With no technical details provided, we can assume that the broadcast will be in 720p with only 2 channels in the regional languages of Tamil and Telugu to be transmitted in High Definition.
Sun Direct transmits all their HD Broadcast on Digital Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound , which makes a High Real Theatre experience.
